On May 14th we travelled to London. We left at around 7:15 a.m. and arrived at around 10:30 a.m. Unfortunately, we were late due to a traffic jam, so we didn’t have enough time to walk through Greenwich Park. Our boat trip across the Thames was scheduled for 11 am. We could see huge buildings and the different architecture compared to Germany. Then we drove towards our first major stop: the Tower Bridge. The Tower Bridge is a bascule and suspension bridge that leads over the Thames. Known for its incomparable Victorian architectural style, it has two towers connected by walkways. We entered Tower Bridge and were able to walk through the towers. The connecting path between the towers has a glass floor through which you can see the street below.

After we had visited the Tower Bridge we took the subway to Victoria Station. We looked at different sights there. First, we passed Buckingham Palace. This is the official residence of the British King but the building in the City of Westminster district is also used for official state events. Afterwards we walked around London and saw different famous places. We saw the well known Big Ben, London Eye and the residence of the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

At around 3 p.m. we took the subway to Camden Market. There are many food stalls, with different dishes from all over the world. But there are also many other things to buy, for example souvenirs, jewelry or clothes. It was very interesting but also a bit challenging to order food in English. After our stay at the Market, we took the underground back to Greenwich Park where we took the bus back to Eastbourne.

After a long day we arrived in Eastbourne and went back to our host families. It was a great day of our trip to England and we will remember it for a long time.
